The Sa’akaruyi of Karu chiefdom in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Chief Emmanuel Kyauta Yepwi, has died at the age of 76.

A relative of the late monarch, Habaku Samson, who confirmed the death through telephone to our reporter on Saturday, said the late monarch died after a brief illness on Saturday, by 9.12am at a private hospital in Kano State.

He said the late Sa’akaruyi was admitted at a private hospital in Kano, before he passed on, saying his remains is air bound to Abuja.

The special assistant to Senator Philip Aduda, Samuel Danjuma, who is a first cousin to the late chief, also confirmed the monarch’s death.

“Yes, they just called this afternoon to say that Sa’akaruyi of Karu, Chief Emmanuel Kyauta Yepwi has died in a Kano hospital. His remains are on the way from Kano, while we are on our way to the airport to receive his corpse,” he said.

Daily Trust on Sunday reports that the death of Sa’akaruyi of Karu chiefdom has brought to four, traditional rulers who have died on the throne within the past eight months.

The chief of Pai chiefdom in Kwali Area Council of Abuja, the late HRH Alhaji Abdullahi Bala, died on July 3, 2022 after a brief illness. Also, the Etsu of Kwali chiefdom, late HRH Alhaji Shaban Audu Nizazo (III) died on December 29, 2022 at a private hospital in Abuja, where he reportedly went for a check-up, while the Etsu of Yaba chiefdom in Abaji Area Council, late Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, died on March 9 when he slumped after he performed ablution to Isha’i prayers inside his palace.
