The Education Resource Centre (ERC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has implemented new measures to ensure strict compliance with examination standards and maintain zero tolerance for malpractice in secondary schools.

The Director of the ERC, Dr. Neemat Abdulrahim, stated this in Abuja on Thursday while monitoring the Senior Secondary Certificate Mock Examination in Mathematics across various schools.

Abdulrahim explained that the mock examination is designed to prepare students for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) finals. (NAN)

She noted that the monitoring exercise is part of the centre’s mandate to ensure examinations are conducted in conducive environments and that vetted question papers meet approved national standards.

“The monitoring exercise further demonstrates the FCT Administration’s commitment to strengthening academic standards and ensuring students are adequately prepared to excel in their external examinations,” she said.

The Director commended the orderly conduct of the examinations in the schools visited. She also highlighted a steady increase in participation by private schools, which she noted reflects the growing credibility and standard of the ERC mock examinations.

Furthermore, Abdulrahim remarked that the ongoing renovation of school facilities, spearheaded by the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has significantly boosted student morale.

“Examination halls are now more comfortable and conducive for both learning and assessment,” she added.

The Director of the Department of Quality Assurance, Hajia Titilayo Alayande, also reaffirmed her department’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of all examinations within the territory.
