One of the four protesters that sustained injuries after operatives of the FCT police command allegedly threw teargas and canisters to dispersed natives who were protesting at the National Assembly last Wednesday has died.

The natives were reportedly protesting the appointment of Mr Adodo Solomon into the board of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) when the police dispersed them with teargas.

Four of the protesters, including the deceased, Mohammed Kamal Karshi, sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the hospital.

A brother of the deceased, Ismaila Kamal, said his brother died around 1am at the National Hospital, Abuja on Sunday.

He said his body was removed from the hospital in the presence of some leaders of the FCT Youth Stakeholders Forum to Karshi, where he was buried.

One of the leaders of the FCT Indigenous Forum, Hajiya Farida Odangi Suleiman, also confirmed the death to our reporter through telephone on Sunday.

She said the deceased died around 1am on Sunday and prayed for his soul.

Suleiman said she was saddened over the death of the deceased, who, she said, joined other FCT natives for a peaceful protest for the emancipation of the people of the FCT.

Abuja Metro learnt that the remains of the deceased had been laid to rest at the Muslim cemetery in Karshi with leaders of the FCT indigenous forum in attendance.
