The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, is set to revive press clubs in secondary schools across Abuja.

This initiative is part of an effort to raise a new generation of ethical and professional journalists.

Comrade Yahaya Ndababo, the vice chairman of the Council, disclosed this during an interactive session with students of Government Secondary School (GSS) Garki.

He stated that the initiative aims to introduce students to journalism early and instill in them the core values of the profession.

“Our goal is to promote professionalism from the grassroots by empowering students with journalistic skills and values early on,” he explained.

Ndababo announced that the project will officially kick off on Thursday, July 24, 2025, starting with two pilot schools in the FCT.

Speaking on behalf of the school, Mrs. Udofia Emauwa Unyime, the Matron of the GSS Garki Press Club, commended the NUJ for what she described as a “timely and visionary effort.”
