The FCT Police Command has arrested a robbery suspect, one Peter Chukwu, which led to the arrest of other suspects, and  recovery of locally made rifles and other items from the suspects.

In a statement, the command’s spokesman, DSP Anjguri Mamzah, said the suspect was arrested by police men on a stop and search duty at the Games Village in Abuja, last Thursday.

He said Peter Chukwu, who was arrested with a rifle and a live catridge, led a team of police detectives to a hideout at Area 1, Garki, where eight other members of his gang were also arrested, another locally made rifle was recovered, and that other exhibits recovered from the suspects included a knife, one bullet proof vest containing charms, one iPhone 8 and one Alcatel phone.

He said the other suspects were, Abdullahi Isiaka (29), Abu Awwal (26), Victor Orji (27), Muhammed Yahuza (24), Mathew Awoba (24), Hamza Mohammed (23), Patrick Eze (20) and Julius Peter (28).

Mamzah added that all the suspects were of no fixed address and that they would be charged to court when investigation was concluded.
