The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has rescued 11 people abducted in Gwargwada community in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
A statement by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Adeh Josephine, said the rescue of the victims followed response of the command to a report on the abduction of some residents who were taken into a forest in Gwargwada community.
She said upon receiving the report, the FCT commissioner of police, CP Babaji Sunday, ordered a massive manhunt for the perpetrators.
She said the prompt tactical and intelligence-driven operation led to the rescue of all the abduction victims unhurt.
“The command has uncovered criminals’ dens in the forest within the Kuje Council Area of the FCT and operatives are already combing the forests to arrest the criminal elements and rescue any other victims,” she said.
She said those rescued were receiving necessary medical evaluations and would be reunited with their families as soon as they are confirmed medically stable.
Josephine said the commissioner of police, while registering the command’s unflinching commitment to combating crimes and criminality in the FCT, also called on residents to remain vigilant and to cooperate with the police, especially by promptly giving any useful information on any suspicious occurrence.
The command said it could be reached through its emergency lines 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883.
