FCT poll: APC unveils chairmanship aspirants in area councils

The incumbent chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, Alhaji Usman Yahaya, Joshua Musa Ishaku as well as the incumbent chairman of Abaji Area Council, Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, have emerged winners of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship primaries for the forthcoming council elections in the FCT.

Abuja Metro reports that the election is slated for February 21, 2026. Dr Habib Ibrahim, the electoral committee chairman for AMAC chairmanship primaries, declared Hon Maikalangu as the APC chairmanship candidate of the council. 

In Abaji Area Council, the incumbent council chairman, Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, who is the sole candidate of the party, emerged unopposed, while Alhaji Usman Yahaya emerged the winner of the primaries for Gwagwalada Area Council.

Also, Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo emerged as the party’s chairmanship candidate for Kuje Area Council.

Abuja Metro reports that in Bwari Area Council, Joshua Musa Ishaku, was declared as the APC chairmanship candidate after he emerged victorious in the election.
