The APC chairmanship candidate for Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Haruna Audi Shekwolo, has declared his readiness to make every necessary sacrifice for his people if he is elected during the forthcoming council election scheduled for February 21.
In an interview, Shekwolo said he has enjoyed the unwavering support of his people from the onset, noting that they have provided the necessary backing to guarantee his victory at the poll.
He maintained that he would not succumb to political pressure to back out of the race, as his supporters believe in his antecedents and shared vision.
The candidate added that his experience at the FCT Area Council Service Commission has further prepared him for the task ahead.
While enumerating his manifesto, Shekwolo promised to improve the livelihoods of residents by providing better infrastructure, healthcare services, teacher welfare, security, and a cleaner environment.
“As a former Supervisory Councilor for Environmental Sanitation in the council, I have been exposed to the realization of the need for corporate social responsibility,” he said, adding, “I used this drive to facilitate infrastructural developments in the Ushafa community, and I hope to extend this to upgrade roads, healthcare centers, schools, water systems, and rural electrification in other communities.”
The chairmanship candidate also stressed the need to renovate the palaces and workspaces of district heads within the area council to help them better discharge their duties.
He also promised that his administration would empower market women and small-scale traders through loans and other incentives, as well as provide farm inputs to local farmers to boost agricultural activities across the council.
Addressing the issue of safety, Shekwolo promised to enhance security through collaborative efforts with security agencies, vigilance groups, and local hunters to ensure a peaceful environment for all.
