The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muhammad Musa Bello, says he has no preferred candidate among those contesting for the FCT senate seat in the 2019 election.

Bello stated this at the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders meeting, which had the six area council chairmen, FCT executives of the party and National Assembly aspirants in attendance, at his Life Camp residence in Abuja.

He said several party stakeholders had for the past six months mounted pressure on him to know who among the aspirants was his preferred candidate, saying it was only the masses that would decide who they wanted to represent them.

“In fact, for the last six months, a lot of people have approached me wanting to know what is my direction, asking questions like, who do I want?,  who does the government prefer? And my answer to them was always, ‘let us allow the people to decide who they want,’” he said.

Also speaking, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the FCT, Alhaji Usman Abdulmalik, assured the minister that the party would continue to stand by its ideology, saying the performance of the party was what makes every politician to prefer to contest on its platform.

He told the minister that nine aspirants were contesting for the FCT senate seat in 2019 election, saying the party had unanimously resolved to hold indirect primaries to elect its flag bearer .

The APC chairman expressed confidence that the performance of the six area council chairmen would enhance the victory of the APC in the presidential, National Assembly and area councils’ elections in 2019.
