FCT task force raids parking zones harbouring one-chance syndicates

The FCT Task Force on Sanitation yesterday raided and dislodged unapproved parking zones harbouring one-chance syndicates and beggars in Abuja.

The team, comprising of the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), State Security Service (SSS), immigration, corrections service, NDLEA, VIO, Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), as well as other relevant agencies, also confiscated vehicles from different locations within the city centre for traffic violations.

The team also raided some places in the Bannex area which were allegedly used by miscreants who in the night attacked pedestrians.

Speaking during the exercise, FCT Secretary, Command and Control Centre, Peter Olumuji, said that following receipt of credible intelligence from relevant security and paramilitary agencies, the team dislodged the activities of one-chance syndicates who most times used unpainted taxies and parked in locations that were not earmarked for parking.

Olumuji noted that the raid was part of its holistic operation to ensure that residents of Abuja moved freely at every point in time, as well as curbing the menace of one-chance and street begging.
