FCT VIO honours retiring director, Dr. Bello

Officials of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), also known as the VIO, on Friday celebrated the achievements of Dr. Abdullateef Bello as he retired as the director of the agency.

In a colorful farewell parade held at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, Bello was described as a committed and inspirational leader who introduced various innovations that led to remarkable strides in the agency’s service delivery.

The Mandate Secretary of the FCT Transport Secretariat, Chinedu Elechi, commended the retired director’s achievements.

“He had turned the DRTS around, leading other states to come and understudy the transport system developed by the FCT DRTS, which Dr. Bello had put together,” Elechi explained.

Sons and daughters of the Ebira community residing in the FCT expressed gratitude to the retired director, whom they described as a worthy son of Okene and a proud native of Kogi State. Speaking at the event, the celebrant, who turned 60 that day, expressed profound gratitude to the Almighty Allah “for his absolute benevolence of passion and guidance over my life, and most specifically my civil service career.”

“The journey, though full of peculiar challenges, was a fulfilling one that gave me a strong conviction to serve the nation with the best of my ability,” Bello said.

He also expressed gratitude to his immediate family and all the staff of the directorate for their support and relentless efforts, praying for the continued and better growth of the DRTS.
