The Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the FCT that their welfare remains a topmost priority of the administration within the availability of resources at its disposal.

Dr Mariya disclosed this during the swearing-in of corps members for the 2024 Batch A Stream 1 deployed to the FCT at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the FCT, on Tuesday.

The minister, who was represented by the FCTA Mandate Secretary for Social Development, Ibrahim Aminu, said, “The FCTA is determined to give the NYSC the maximum support it deserves in recognition of the scheme’s role as an active partner in the development of the FCT.

“Here in the FCT, our teeming youths and women are in need of your support, I believe you will help them develop their various talents for productive creativity.”

On her part, the FCT NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka, announced that a total number of 3,891 (1481 male and 2510 females) corps members were registered for the orientation course.

She said, “I am delighted to state here that these prospective Corps members have successfully adapted to the regimented nature of the orientation course and have comported themselves in manners worthy of commendation.”

She warned them to desist from negative behaviours such as drug abuse and other anti-social activities in and outside the camp.
