FCTA pledges speedy rehabilitation of rural roads

The FCT Administration (FCTA) has expressed resolve to speedily rehabilitate all rural roads in the territory.
A statement from the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD)’s spokesperson, Meeme Felicia, said the Director, STDD, Engineer Felix Nwankwo, spoke on behalf of the FCTA and appealed for calm from all residents, especially those affected by floods particularly in Mashafa, Gudupe Bamboyi and Dankubo villages of Bwari Area Council who recently called for intervention on their roads.
He said the roads in question are currently undergoing procurement.
According to him, technical bids have been done and evaluated and that as soon as there is an approval on this then the financial bid will be completed leading to the award of contract.
The director further reiterated that the administration was aware of the issues on Mpape-Mashafa road and that a new design has been done which included three numbers of 3 by 3 box culverts replacing the existing pipe culverts which will serve the people better.
The director also assured the chairman of Bwari Area Council and the entire communities that government was doing everything possible to ensure that dilapidated roads in the Federal Capital Territory are fixed as available funds allowed, to put smiles on the faces of the residents of the areas.
He added that the administration is fully aware of the importance of all road projects and would fix them as soon as possible.
