The Health and Human Services Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has presented laboratory accreditation certificate to the Bwari General Hospital.
The Sectary for Fealth, Malam Adamu Abubakar Bappa, said the certificate was presented because of the hospital’s laboratory standardisation to ISO 1589.
He said the hospital’s laboratory was one of the best among other hospitals that had been able to attain ISOs best standard, saying the certificate of would last for four years after which it would be returned for re-accreditation if the hospital had been able to maintain the standard in the laboratory.
According to him, the Bwari General Hospital was the first public hospital in the country that had been able to meet up with laboratory standardisation.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr. Osayande E. Osagie, said it had not been an easy journey for the hospital to ensure that the laboratory was able to meet up with the required standard as it made contacts with hospitals in Lagos State.
He commended the staff of the laboratory, FCT health secretary, as well as medical the Health Science Council of Nigeria (HSCN) for their support in ensuring that the hospital’s laboratory met up with the required standard.
