The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has said it remains committed to giving students in the territory opportunities to engage in sporting activities.
The Permanent Secretary of the FCT, Dr. Olusade Adesola made the declaration when he received the FCT contingent to the Nestle Milo National Basketball Championship in Lagos.
Adesola also commended Government Secondary School (GSS) Karu on their victory in the boy’s category at the cadet basketball competition.
“Sports come with a lot of rewards and your victory in Lagos will spur us to look inwards at identifying talented athletes to be nurtured.

“We have identified future stars in this competition. We shall support you as you prepare to represent the country at the World School Basketball Championship in China,” he said.
The president of Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF), Barrister Paul Edeh, also said he was glad that his Foundation’s collaboration with the FCT in school sports was yielding positive results.
“We will double our efforts to ensure that when these young lads are discovered they are given regular training.
“I’m very happy with what Government Secondary School Karu is doing in training the children.
“If within this short time we can achieve this feat, I am sure in the next couple of years we would have more trophies coming out of the FCT,” said the sports philanthropist.
Edeh then announced the donation of N500,000 to the management of GSS Karu for the development of basketball facilities in the school.
GSS Karu boys defeated their counterpart from Lagos State 46-43 points to emerge champions of the 23rd edition of the just concluded Nestle Milo Basketball Championship.
