The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reopened the Dutsen-Alhaji Market for commercial activities.

The market was shut at the weekend following a resurgence of gridlock on the Dutse-Alhaji-Bwari road by the market.

The return of the gridlock was said to have been caused by lack of a parking space in the market, as the space was converted into shop attachments.

Activities of the enforcement exercise included a general cleanup of the market, desilting of its drainage system and removal of makeshift shops.

City & Crime checks around the market on Monday showed that normal activities had resumed.

In a chat with our reporter, a trader in the market, Emeka, said he was happy with the exercise, adding that, “The environment was very dirty as of this time last month.”
