The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has sympathized with all farms that incurred losses following the outbreak of Avian flu in the territory.
Speaking at a sensitisation workshop for poultry famers in FCT last week, the Acting Director Administration and Finance of the Agric Secretariat, Dr. Musa Aliyu who was represented by the Deputy Director, Administration, Mallam Musa Abdulkareem said the FCT Minister, Mohammed Bello is greatly troubled by the losses.
The workshop organized by the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat of FCTA is part of efforts to curtail the spread of the Avian flu virus in FCT.
At the opening of the workshop, the Head Animals Services of the FCT Agric Secretariat, Dr. Mrs.  Regina Adulugba expressed regret over the outbreak, which she noted was avoidable if the farmers had adhered strictly to standard practice in poultry management. 
She disclosed plans by the secretariat to intensify the inspection of poultry farms and markets in the FCT to ensure that their work conforms with acceptable standards.
Highpoints of the occasion was a presentation by Dr. Ilyasu Abubakar, the Avian Flu Desk officer in the FCT who engaged the poultry farmers in a question and answer session.
He advised them to maintain good hygiene in their farms and markets and watch out for  symptoms such as: ruffled feathers, soft-shelled eggs, depression, prop in egg production, loss of appetite, green diarrhea, swelling of the head, eyelids and comb, inability to walk nasal discharge, sudden death in large numbers amongst others.
