FCTA to complete road projects in Abaji

The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) through the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) has embarked on the completion of road projects in the six area councils.

The first place visited by the STDD was Abaji Area Council where it inspected an ongoing 6km road project that links Dangara to Kpache community, as well as the road in Dangara almost half of which erosion has eaten. It also links to Kpache, a small community in the FCT known for farming and fishing skills.

The 6km road work is being handled by COAN West Africa contractors.

COAN’s chairman, Chris Nwogu, who spoke with Daily Trust, said the road connects Yaba-Kpache community, adding that it was awarded to his company by the FCTA through the Satellite Towns Development Department.

He added that what is slowing down the project is funding as it is under the statutory budget.

He said immediately funds were available, the work would be completed especially as the rainy season is over.

The contractor assured that the work would be completed and handed over to the FCTA by the end of January 2018.

Also while commending the contractor, the STDD coordinator,  Isiyaku Tanko Yamawo, said 70 percent work on the Yaba-Kpache road has been done

He added that the road, when completed, would boost the agricultural potential  within the FCT as the community is known for its farming and fishing capabilities.
