The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has said it is ready to collaborate with the private sector and stakeholders in the housing sector for the development of mass housing for residents of the territory.

FCT Minister Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, made the disclosure in Abuja during the opening ceremony of the ongoing ‘Abuja Housing and Investment Expo’ organised by Shelter Aid Organisation in partnership with Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ACCI, Ministry of Works, Power and Housing,FCTA and other stakeholders in housing and investment promotion.

“We are ready to partner with genuine private developers on housing in order to provide housing for the residents. This is because the need for housing cannot be over-emphasised. The FCT accounts for 10 percent of national housing deficits and we are determined to put policies in place to roll back the deficit,” he said.

The minister, who was represented by Ikenna Ekeledo, the Director of Public Building, FCDA, said this would be possible through its planned housing policy to be executed through the private sector, revitalisation of the process of land documentation, resuscitation of the Land Use Allocation Committee and the setting up of land registry to complement existing land administration in the territory.
