The Secretary, Health and Human Services of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mrs Amanda Pam, has advised government at all levels to train secondary school students on basic first aid skills for accident victims.

She gave the advice in Abuja during a free training for secondary school students on basic first aid skills for road accident victims organised by an Abuja-based charity organization, Lifeline Care Association, in partnership with Custodian Social Responsibility Foundation.

Represented by her Special Assistant Administration, Bankole Lebi, Mrs Pam called for the introduction of basic first aid skills for accident victims in the secondary school curriculum in the country.

Chief Executive Officer of Custodian Social Responsibility Foundation, Bumi Aderemi, said the training was aimed at impacting life saving skills to school children to enable them to help  accident victims.

According to her, school children were targeted for the training because, “they are able to learn very fast and once we get them young, they will have those skills for the rest of their lives.”

The founder,  Lifeline Care Association, Dr Nkem Momoh, said the training was also targeted at  engendering  the values of good Samaritan on the students “which is one of the strong values we promote in charity.”
