This is because if Ghana and Gambia who have one point each win their matches today against Cameroon and Nigeria respectively, any of them could advance, depending on the numerical goals difference ahead of Nigeria who are second on the log with three points.

If that happens, Cameroon will top the group with six points, followed by either Ghana or Gambia who would garner four points each, while Nigeria will be left at the bottom with three points, and out of the competition.

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria toppled Cameroon as leader when they beat current world and African champions, the Black Satellites of Ghana 2-1.

This explains why Nigeria must beat Gambia to book a place to the last four and a ticket to the Colombia 2011 World Youth Championship.

With victory over Gambia, the Flying Eagles would automatically qualify for the semis on six points irrespective of the outcome of the tie between Cameroon and Ghana.

World Champions Ghana still has a chance of defending its title if they beat Cameroon with a massive gaols margin and Gambia beats Nigeria with a small margin.

But as it stands, the battle for the second spot is still open for the three teams.
