The race for the 2026 President Federation Cup has reached its decisive stage, with El-Kanemi Warriors, Wikki Tourists, Nasarawa United, and Ikorodu City FC all securing places in the semifinals after a tense and entertaining quarter-final round that featured two penalty shootouts.
In Awka, Ikorodu City FC produced another resilient cup performance to defeat Barau FC 5–4 on penalties after a 2–2 draw in regulation time. Ibrahim Ayoola starred for the Lagos-based side with a brace, while Barau FC responded through Henry Ezeonye and Joseph Atule.
The shootout victory mirrored Ikorodu City’s earlier success against Enyimba, as they held their nerve once again to reach the semifinals for a second consecutive season.
Despite recent relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League, Wikki Tourists continued their impressive cup run with a hard-fought victory over Flight FC of Gboko in Jos. Jonathan James had put Wikki ahead, but the third-tier side struck a dramatic late equaliser to force penalties. Goalkeeper Utum Godswill emerged as the hero, making a crucial save in the shootout as Wikki triumphed 4–3 to book their place in the last four.
In Abuja, Nasarawa United edged Plateau United 2–1 in a tightly contested North Central derby. The Solid Miners took the lead just before halftime through Abubakar Abdullahi and looked set to advance comfortably until Daniel Aboh equalised for Plateau United in the 85th minute.
However, Nasarawa responded almost immediately, with Ada Umar netting the decisive winner three minutes from time to send the 2021 finalists into the semifinals.
Meanwhile, the momentum from their 2024 title success continued for El-Kanemi Warriors, who secured a narrow 1–0 win over Sokoto United. The decisive strike ensured their progression and maintained their status as strong contenders for another deep cup run.
With the quarter-finals concluded, the semifinal lineup is now confirmed: Nasarawa United will face Ikorodu City FC, while El-Kanemi Warriors are set to clash with Wikki Tourists in a compelling showdown between two resilient sides.
The final four promise high-intensity encounters as teams battle for a place in the prestigious President Federation Cup final, with both history and silverware on the line. The semi-finals will be held on 15th and 16th 2026 with the finals on 27th June, 2026.
