A cross-section of the fans, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu, on Wednesday, commended the teams for reaching the final.

They said that both teams had come a long way in both national and continental championships and would give their Nigerians fans a run for their money.

Speaking in the same vein, Edwin Eze, the Director of Sports, Information, in the state sports council, said: “We thank God that the two oriental brothers are eventually playing the FA final.

“We are happy because they are the toughest teams we have in the south east.

“I prefer Heartland winning the match because Enyimba is already in continental championship and want to carry it the third time. This time, let it be for Heartland so that it can go round.

“I commend coaches Okey Emordi and Christian Chukwu for their technical capabilities. We pray for a successful outing,” Eze said.

On his part, Chidi Ofo-Okenwa, the Chairman of the state football association, said the match would be an “oriental battle’’.

“I can rightly tell you that in this oriental battle – surely one club must win. It is the final. My heart is with Heartland, but my brain is telling me that Enyimba will have the day because they are red hot right now.

“Having said that, I want to appreciate the dexterity of the knowledge of the game by the consultant of Heartland FC, Christian Chukwu and the galaxy of players in the team.

“If you look at the Heartland back four, they are among the best in the league and they have a biting attack.”

In his reaction, Godwin Nnosike, the Chief Coach of UNTH Healers, Enugu, said: “Both teams are good. But I predict that any team that has better chances should win.

‘’All we do is to support them because they are from the south east. They have tried their best having qualified for the final,” Nnosike said. (NAN)
