The Federal Government will deliver 30,000 metric tons of maize, rice, sorghum, millet and soya beans to the North East, 50% of which will be allocated to Borno State. This disclosure was made by the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Hajiya Zainab S. Ahmed on May 31 during a courtesy visit on Governor Kashim Shettima at the Government House, Maiduguri. She was accompanied by the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA),
Mr. Mustapha Maihaja, officials from Defence Headquarters and the Presidency, to brief the Governor on the Federal Government’s relief efforts in the North East. The Minister solicited the guidance of Governor Shettima and the cooperation of his team on how best to deploy the food items. She also conveyed the intention of the Acting President to personally visit Maiduguri to hand over the relief consignment.
