The Federal High Court has commissioned its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre for speedy resolution of disputes in the country.

Speaking during the commissioning on Friday in Abuja, the Chief Judge of the court, Justice Abdul Adamu Kafarati, expressed confidence that the centre will help in reducing the busy dockets of the court and overall administration of justice, particularly in the Federal High Court.

“The centre will no doubt help to determine cases with arbitration clauses in their agreements which were not explored before parties rushed to court,” he said.

Justice Kafarati said to enhance criminal administration during his tenure, he embarked on review of AMCON Rules, and Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rules, 2009.

In his comments, Joe Kyari Gadzama (SAN) commended Justice Kafarati for the centre and promised to support it to grow.

“This centre promises to grow as a neutral and efficient centre for the resolution of not just arbitration matters but also mediation matters, negotiation, conciliation etc,” he said.

The centre is equipped to handle commercial transactions, contract employment, tenancy, banking, maritime, construction, energy, and family disputes among others.
