The Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday stopped the Ministry of Sports, Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, Chairman Election Guideline Committee, Akinlolu Folusho, Secretary Electoral Guideline Committee, Bamiduro Olu and Mr Francis Obih from conducting the Badminton Federation elections into executive office pending the hearing of determination of Motion on Notice.
This is contained in an Ex-parte order granted the plaintiff, Kenneth Azuine to serve all defendants the Court Process in the suit by substituted means.
The Interim order by Hon. Justice I. E Ekwo reads “Upon the Motion Ex-parte order dated and filed on 28 September 2021coming up today (yesterday) before this court seeking the following reliefs; An interim order of this Honourable Court restraining the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and other defendants from conducting any election to any executive office in respect of defendants pending the hearing and determination of Motion on Notice.
“Leave is hereby granted the plaintiff to serve all the Defendants the Court Process to any adult within the respective last known place of abode or business of the Defendants.”
The hearing of the case was then adjourned to October 6, 2021.
It will be recalled that election of zonal representatives into the board of the badminton federation was said to be fraught with irregularities.
However, following the successful conclusion of zonal elections in other federations, the Ministry will go ahead with elections into the board of the remaining 32 sports federations.
