The Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has expelled two students and suspended 16 others over examination malpractice.

The institution’s Assistant Registrar and Public Relations Officer, Mr Manasseh Umoette, said in a statement that the management took the decision based on the report of the Students Disciplinary Committee and academic board on the affected students.

Umoette said those affected have been served their letters and told to vacate the institution after handing over property of the polytechnic in their possession, including their identity cards to their respective Heads of Department.

“Their expulsion and suspension is in line with the provisions of the Students Information and Regulations Handbook 2015. The measure is meant to promote discipline and ensure quality and standard of education in the polytechnic,” he said.
