Federal University Lafia names new registrar

The Governing Council of the Federal University Lafia (FULafia), Nasarawa State, has appointed Dr. Abubakar Mamuda as the registrar of the institution.

Mamuda, who was until his recent appointment, the Deputy Registrar, Council and General Administration Division of FULafia, would serve for a single term of five years.

He emerged successful after a keen contest in the interview for the post of registrar conducted by a Joint Council and Senate Selection Board, in which 22 candidates applied for the post and 12 were invited for interview.

Born in Zaria on February 23, 1966, Mamuda attended Marmara L. E. A. Primary School, Sabon Gari, Zaria, and Government Secondary School, Zaria, now Alhudahuda College in Kaduna State.

Mamuda started his career as a university administrator 20 years ago at the University of Abuja, from where he transferred his service to FULafia.

Dr Mamuda was the immediate past chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FULafia branch.

He is a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) and a member of the Association of Nigeria Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA).

Mamuda served as secretary and member of many committees in University of Abuja and FULafia and authored articles in a number of academic journals.

He was former  senior special assistant on NAPEP to ex-governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State in 2007 and  was also a partner on the domestication of the Child Right Act with UNICEF.
