Female banker docked over theft of employer’s N3m

A 32-year-old employee of a microfinance bank in Lagos, Vivian Gbodi, who allegedly stole the bank’s N3 million, on Thursday, appeared before an Igbosere magistrates’ court.

Gbodi, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of stealing.

The accused, according to the police prosecutor, Insp. Steven Molo, committed the offence between 2016 and April 2017 at No. 10, Apapa Road, Oyingbo, Lagos.

He alleged that the accused stole N3 million belonging to Mutual Benefits Microfinance Bank Ltd and was caught after an audit was carried out.

“She was handed over to the police for further questioning.’’

The offence contravened Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which proffers seven years jail term for offenders.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In her ruling, the magistrate, Mrs O. O. Oshin, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oshin adjourned the case until April 3. (NAN)
