A female staff member of a hotel in Ilorin has been found dead after a late-night attack, it was learnt.
The woman, who worked in the kitchen section of the facility located in the Babaode area, was discovered lifeless in the early hours of Sunday.
Her identity had not been released at the time of this report.
Witnesses told Daily Trust that the incident happened shortly after midnight.
They said the victim was heard screaming for help before her voice went silent.
A source said they heard her shouting “thief”, “thief”, which triggered concern among other workers in the building.
When help eventually arrived, she had already been overpowered.
“We later found a cloth and marks on her neck that suggested she had been strangled.
“The development threw the hotel into confusion”, the source said.
The management of the hotel had yet to make an official statement on the matter.
Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the incident in a short text message on Monday night.
He said detectives had commenced work to determine what happened and who was involved.
