FG appoints substantive NRC Managing Director/CEO

The Federal Government has confirmed the appointment of Engr. Fidet Edetanlen Okhiria as the Managing Director/CEO of Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC).

The director, public relations of NRC, Mr Mahmoud Yakubu, confirmed the appointment to our correspondent. 

Engr. Okhiria was Director Mechanical, Electrical, Signal and Telecommunications of the Corporation before he was appointed its acting MD in February following the sacking of Engr. Adeseyi Sijuwade, the erstwhile MD.  

With his confirmation, he has the full responsibility of providing leadership and strategic direction for achieving the NRC master plan.

Engr. Okhiria is a professional qualified electrical engineer with significant records of achievement in the field of electrical/mechanical, signalling, telecommunication, ICT, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and rail transport. 

Engr. Okhiria started his educational career from the Ujeolen-Ekpoma 1967-1972,  and  proceeded to Ujeolen Grammar School, Ujeolen-Ekpoma, 1973-1977 and University of Lagos, Akoka where he obtained a B. SC degree in electrical engineering in 1985. He subsequently obtained specialized training in public private partnership (PPP), structuring pm transaction (2012),logistics and transport management (2004), industrial maintenance management (1990).

Okhiria is a fellow, Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineering (FNIME), Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics (LCILT), Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria (FSM), Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), Member, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), member, Institute of Director (IOD), and, chartered member, Nigeria  Institute of Management.
