The management of Prigem Concept, a firm that chart course for early child education has called on the federal government to set up some specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to check the performance of the monies allotted to the Federal Ministry of Education and its numerous agencies in the 2017 budget.

The managing partner Raymond Owa in a statement said doing so would help in the process of building up the sector and take it back to its rightful place.

With the education sector getting the largest chunk of the 2017 budget, a total of N448, 443, 102, 615, it is important that the check is done to fight the ills of financial recklessness and frauds,he said.

He said: “With education raking in about 17.5% of the entire budget estimate, we are of the opinion that the future is significantly bright if due diligence is followed up to the latter in the implementation of these lofty, seeming unattainable but achievable projects to further enhance our educational sector.”

According to him, the development of any nation is directly proportion to the quality of its education and the percentage of literacy.

“ It is however very disheartening that both the quality and the percentage of literacy is more against us than favourable to us,” he said.

He said the clamour for an improved funding for the educational sector has been on the front burner for some time now and as such, education cannot be handled with levity neither should it be left for the government alone.
