FG begins distribution of farm inputs to Imo farmers

The Imo State Director of the ministry, Mr. Iwunze Clement, told Daily Trust in Owerri that the distribution started at a very good time this season.
He said that all the redemption centers have been reactivated to function effectively while five additional redemption centers have been created, bringing the number to 32 to ensure the inputs get to the farmers.
Announcing the slight changes in the 2014 GES Scheme, Iwunze said that every farmer will pay a little amount to get maize and rice seeds alongside fertilizers.
According to him, farmers are expected to pay the sum of N200 for 10kg bag of maize while the sum of N250 would be paid by every farmer to procure 12.50kg of rice seeds.
The director advised farmers to avail themselves of the opportunity of getting these seeds at subsidized rates before the distribution exercise closes next week.
He called on every registered farmer to go to the redemption centres closest to them and claim their inputs.
