The Federal Ministry of Education and the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) have partnered on the establishment of the community-based Early Childhood Care Development and Education (ECCDE) centres and neighbourhood primary schools.
Receiving the Federal Ministry of Education’s delegation in her office on an advocacy visit, Executive Chairman, Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Grace Adagba, highlighted the importance of ECCDE, also known as nursery sections, in ensuring a smooth transition into primary schools.
She said Benue SUBEB had embarked on robust campaigns to encourage children’s enrolment into ECCDE centres in public primary schools across the state.
Adagba, in a statement yesterday by SUBEB’s Information Officer, Emmanuella Akese, disclosed plans to set up a task force by September to monitor ECCDE centres and ensure their effective operation.

The leader of the delegation of the federal ministry, Chipa Ladi, according to the statement, noted that the first five years of a child’s life was critical for cognitive, social, emotional and physical development.
