The Plateau State project coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Samuel Damla, has said the federal government commenced the building of 100-bed mother and child hospital in the state.

He said the project would add positively to the lives of the rural communities in the southern part of Plateau State.

Damala said this during a working visit to ascertain the level of work ongoing at the hospital located at Gidan-Dabat in Qur’an Pan Local Government Area.

“Government is trying to decongest medical facilities in the city, and the focus is on rural areas. The siting of the project here is to also complement the efforts of the governor in the provision of an affordable health care system in the state,’’ he said.

The executive chairman of Qua’anpan Local Government, Abdulmalik Yusuf Haruna, expressed gratitude for the establishment of the project in his locality.

“If you look at this area, we don’t have any strong health care system.  You can only go to Lafia or Shendam for better health care services. But with this on board, we are better for it. We thank the family and the host community who donated their land for this project; we are proud of them,” he added.
