The federal government has commenced the repair of federal highways in Edo State as part of efforts to make the roads motorable during the yuletide period.
Speaking during the inspection of the ongoing repair of failed portions of federal roads, the Federal Controller, Federal Ministry of Works, Edo State, Engr. Oke Owhe, said the federal highways receiving federal government attention in Edo are, Benin- Ekpoma-Auchi-Okene Highway, Benin-Sapele-Warri Highway and Benin-Agbor-Asaba highway among others.
He said the palliative measure which is almost at its completion stage was aimed at making the roads motorable in order to ease the hardship of commuters and motorists on the roads.
Owhe expressed satisfaction with the extent of work done so far on the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi road, Benin-Agbor-Asaba as well as Benin-Sapele-Warri highways.
He noted that the areas where the repairs were being carried out on failed portions on roads are the Benin- Ekpoma-Auchi road by Ehor axis, Ekpoma axis, Auchi-Okpella, axis and Okpella-Okene axis and Benin Agbor Asaba, by the Benin-bypass among others.
