The Federal Government has commissioned an Automotive Training Centre in Gusau, Zamfara State, and trained 100 youths in mechatronics for the maintenance and repair of petrol and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tricycles and motorcycles.
The facility was inaugurated on Thursday by the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the project was executed through a partnership between the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and the Zamfara State Office of the Made-in-Nigeria Special Project.
According to the statement, the Automotive Training Centres were established across the six geo-political zones to provide access to technical training and support services.

Speaking at the event, Governor Dauda Lawal said emerging technologies such as mechatronics, electric mobility, alternative fuel systems, smart diagnostics and digital platforms were reshaping the global transportation sector.
He commended NADDC and other stakeholders for supporting skills acquisition and youth development.
“Today marks another milestone in our commitment to youth empowerment, technology-driven development and economic growth. This centre will open new opportunities for innovation, self-reliance and prosperity for our young people,” he said.
The governor recalled that shortly after assuming office in 2023, he sought collaboration with NADDC to provide practical automotive skills for youths in the state.
Lawal said the project aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the areas of youth development, industrialisation and the Presidential CNG Initiative.
Earlier, Enoh said the Federal Government was engaging international investors and major automotive manufacturers to establish industrial hubs and expand local vehicle production across the country.
