The executive secretary disclosed this at the venue of a five-day capacity building programme for teachers and proprietors of almajiri model schools in Minna, Niger State.
A statement from the UBEC signed by Mr. David Apeh, the public relations officer, said the present administration has constructed 152 almajirai model schools across the federation to provide access to education to all categories of children, irrespective of their socio-economic background.
Represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary (Services) Dr Yakubu Gambo, Suleiman said the schools have commenced academic activities and their pupils provided with instructional materials and uniforms.
The commission said that the “administration of these schools, using modern teaching methods, will go a long way in ensuring that teaching and learning in the schools were in accordance with the global practice.”
Earlier, the Chairman, National Committee on Implementation of Almajiri Education Programme, Prof. Shehu A Galadanci, said the committee, saddled with the responsibility of implementing the Almajiri Education Programme, has recorded tremendous achievements from its inception in September 2010 to date.
He said the programme has constructed 116 model almajirai schools across the federation and took over 36 tsangaya schools.
