The observation was contained in an address by the Minister of Water Resources Mrs. Sarah Reng Ochekpe to participants of a Seminar and Exhibition of Water Africa in Abuja.
The exhibition brought together both private and public sectors in water and construction business to look at new tools which would ensure judicious deployment of relevant technology in the water sector.
Ochekpe said that information and knowledge are key to critical development in the sector, and that cross fertilization of ideas by the participants on how to effectively and efficiently utilize the new technology would improve service delivery and enhance access to safe potable water and sanitation in Nigeria.
She urged participants to exploit the Seminar and Exhibition for their technological development, adding that the Exhibition would help staff of the Ministry to key into the new tools and ideas being displayed.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, Baba Umar Farouk, in his remark stated that the exhibition is an annual event that provides stakeholders in private and public sectors in the water and construction business the opportunities to see on display new technologies for use in the Water and Construction sectors.
“The objective of this year’s Seminar and Exhibition is to showcase new tools, machineries and techniques for Water, Housing and Construction sectors as well as provide a platform for interaction with experts for purposes of cross fertilization of ideas among stakeholders,” he stated.
