The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), in collaboration with Senator Gbemisola Rukayat Saraki, has empowered over 10,000 less privileged youth and women in Kwara State.
The empowerment came after months of rigorous training of the beneficiaries in their various areas of interest.
Speaking during the distribution of working tools to the beneficiaries in Ilorin recently, she said all beneficiaries of the empowerment schemes were recently trained on cosmetology, auto mechanic, fashion design and many more by experts under guidance of NDE officers.
“They have been given starter packs to go and start a better life with what they have learned. The difference between this particular empowerment with those I used to do in the past is the number of beneficiaries involved in this.If you notice, NDE is making serious difference in reducing unemployment in the society.”
She added that 600 people would also be given N10,000 loans to start small scale businesses.
In his speech, the Director General of NDE, Dr Nasir Argungu, applaud Saraki for the gesture towards eradicating unemployment among youth and women in the state with her support for the implementation of NDE programmes.
The Kwara State Coordinator of NDE, Chief Gabriel Ademola Adeyemo, urged the beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme to ensure proper use of the starter packs given to them to improve the lives and enhance the economy of the state and country.
