The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has disbursed a total of N1 million to 50 elderly persons in Benue State as starter capital for their economic advancement.

The minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq, who made the disbursement during a two-day training programme, said the experience garnered at the programme would go a long way in addressing the socio-economic challenges facing them.

She said, “I am convinced that at the end of this skills acquisition training programme, experience gained would go a long way in addressing the socio-economic challenges facing them. I have therefore approved a take-off grant of N20,000 each to the participants as start-up capital.”
