‘FG erosion control project to prevent flood, ease vehicular access’

The Federal Government says the numerous projects initiated across the country are to prevent flooding and ‎ease vehicular access to the communities where the projects are executed.

The Secretary to the Government ‎of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, stated this recently in Abuja while commissioning and handing over three erosion and flood control projects executed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by the Federal Government through the Ecological Control Office (EFO).

At the commissioning and handing over of the project at Veritas University, Abuja, Mustapha said the successful completion of the N750 million erosion control project would go a long way in creating a conducive learning environment and ensuring the general well being of the students.

At Saburi‎ village, the SSG expressed satisfaction that the project was located in a community that was in dire need of government’s intervention.

While at Jikwoyi, he maintained that the Federal Government intervention would ‎bring huge relief to the community which for a very long time had been stressed by ecological issues.

In her remark, the Permanent Secretary of EFO, Habiba Lawal‎, said the projects at various communities would enhance the living standard of the people and at the same time reduce dangers to lives and property associated with erosion and persistent flooding in the communities.‎

Also, the project managers and consultants, Gaffar Worldwide Resources Ltd, Mr. Chibuzor Michael, and Cifez Limited,‎ Mohammed Ibrahim, whose company executed the projects, construction of roads and drainages, said the speedy and timely completion of the project was due to the doggedness of ‎the company despite challenges, adding that they were executed between July and January. He said the road construction was just the first phase of the projects.
