The Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with STRATCOMM Consulting to strengthen the Youth Migration and Climate Action Resilience (YM&CA) Department of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and scale up youth-focused climate and migration programmes across the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday, Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, said the partnership extends beyond climate-related interventions to encompass broader development priorities, particularly research-driven policy formulation and strategic communication.

The minister, who was represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Maryam Keshinro, emphasised that effective communication is critical to ensuring government initiatives achieve visibility, impact, and long-term sustainability.

He described the MoU as a forward-looking collaboration aimed at fostering innovation, strengthening institutional capacity, and delivering measurable outcomes for young Nigerians. Olawande also underscored the importance of data-driven decision-making in shaping responsive youth migration and development strategies.

The minister noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which promotes public-private partnerships and inter-ministerial collaboration as key drivers of national development.

“The ministry remains resolute in fostering strategic partnerships that empower Nigerian youths, promote innovation, and advance sustainable socio-economic growth,” he said. “This agreement reflects the government’s commitment to promoting youth-led initiatives, enhancing strategic communication, and deepening evidence-based engagement in youth development programmes.”

Director of the Youth Migration and Climate Action Resilience Department, Oyekan Adeoloyin, explained that the department was established in response to growing national and global challenges related to youth mobility, economic migration, and environmental sustainability.

According to him, Nigerian youths are among those most affected by climate change and migration pressures, while also serving as critical drivers of innovative and sustainable solutions.

Adeoloyin described the collaboration, which includes strategic engagement with private-sector partners, as timely and forward-looking. He added that the partnership aligns with the Federal Government’s broader agenda of sustainable youth empowerment, climate responsiveness, and inclusive growth.

He stressed the need for coordinated action across ministries, sectors, and development partners to strengthen migration governance and enhance climate resilience.

Managing Director of Stratcomm Consulting, Kayode Olanorin, also described the partnership as timely and strategic, noting that collaborative efforts are essential to address emerging youth development challenges.

He commended the ministry’s innovative communication approach, observing that traditional and repetitive engagement methods are no longer sufficient.

The signing of the MoU underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youths, promoting innovation, and building strategic partnerships that deliver measurable and sustainable outcomes.
