FG flags off dualization of Keffi-Makurdi expressway

The Federal Government has flagged off the dualization of Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi expressway, located within Nasarawa and Benue states respectively which covers 220 kilometres.

The ceremony was performed on Thursday by the Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Babatunde Fashola with Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko A-Makura in attendance.

Speaking at the event, the minister said: “the project, which will link the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with six eastern states, is the brain child of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

He added that President Buhari is engaging experts to provide meaningful development and execute live-changing projects that have direct bearing on people’s lives especially to ease the long suffering of motorists travelling from Abuja to Makurdi.”

In his remarks, Governor Al-Makura thanked the federal government’s initiative to ease the long suffering of commuters and motorists on the Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi road.

He added that apart from decongestion on the highway, it would ease up the incessant cases of insecurity often recorded on the roads.

Fashola however noted that the contract was awarded to China Harbour Engineering Company Limited at the cost of N1.6billion.
