The Federal Government has commenced the rehabilitation 2.5kilometer of Umuahia/Ikot- Ekpen Federal road.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Umuahia, at the weekend, the Senator representing Abia Central in the Senate, Chief Theodore Orji said the rehabilitation and expansion of the 2.5km road was imperative to the social and economic activities of the South-East and South -South states.
The project awarded to Ferotex Construction Limited is expected to be completed and delivered within 6 months from the flag-off date.
According to the Senator, upon completion, the Umuahia/Ikot- Ekpen Federal road will improve the movement of people, goods and service and boost business activities in the area. He charged the Ferotex Construction Limited, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to ensure that the project is completed at the record time of 6months even as he urged the contractor to deliver quality work.
The representative of Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Mr Abraham Akange said the flag off marked the end of procurement process and promised that FERMA will ensure quality materials are used.
