FG hands over palm processing plants to Niger Delta communities

Communities in the Niger-Delta have been urged  to  make  the  best  use  of oil  palm  processing  plants  being  established  by  the  Federal  Government in the region.

The Minister  of  State  for  Niger  Delta  Affairs,  Prof. Claudius  Daramola, at the inauguration and handing over ceremony of an Integrated Oil Palm Processing Plant in Umuehie community in Imo State, said the huge  investment  by  the  government could only be justified if the facilities  are  guarded  jealously  and  put  into  effective use.

The spokesperson  of  the  host  community , Ikenna  Okechuku, who lauded the efforts of the government, said the  factory  would  bring  much  needed relief  to  the  women  who used  traditional  method  of  processing  which  was  highly  stressful. It will also provide job opportunities for the people.

Imo State Governor  Rochas Okorocha said  the state government  was  ready  to  partner  with  the  ministry  for  better  project  conceptualisation  and  implementation  for  the development  of  the  region.
