The  Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has said  the 2018 budgetary allocation to the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has been enhanced to enable it provide desired services to unskilled and unemployed Nigerians.

He commended the leadership of the NDE for its commitment to mass employment creation, assuring that the Federal Government would support it in confronting the challenge of unemployment.

Ngige stated this in Kaduna during the NDE Special Day at the 39th Kaduna International Trade Fair.

Ngige who was represented  by Alhaji Ibrahim Jibia, a director in the ministry, noted  that under the current leadership of NDE, several  employment creation initiatives had been introduced, expressing  confidence in the ability of the NDE to   reduce unemployment to a tolerable level.

The Director General of NDE, Dr. Nasir Mohammed Ladan, said over 76,400 unskilled and unemployed persons had been recruited and were about completing training in various vocational skills across the country.

Ladan stated that 70 per cent are being trained in cosmetology.

Many  beneficiaries of the NDE in various small scale businesses exhibited their products and services at the fair.
