FG, Labour Unions meet behind doors on fuel price hike
NLC and TUC are leading the labour unions
The price hikes have been at the centre of protests like this one in Ibadan, also in Osun and Lagos.
The representatives of federal government and Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) as well as Trade Union Congress (TUC) are currently holding a closed-door meeting over the recent increment of electricity tariff and price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The meeting, which is holding at Banquet hall at Presidential Villa has Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige; Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo; Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva in attendance.
The labour unions were led by NLC President, Ayuba Wabba and his counterpart from TUC, Quadri Olaleye.
Earlier, in his opening address, the SGF, Boss Mustapha, had appealed to the unions to shelve their plans on the proposed strike and protest starting next week Monday.
But the TUC leader, Olaleye said the government should have invited the unions before taking any decisions.
