The federal government has launched the Unified Institution Management Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Portal, a digital platform designed to transform data management across Nigeria’s polytechnics and technical institutions.

The portal, developed by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), is part of the board’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency within the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector.

Speaking at the launch event, the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, described the platform as a game-changer for technical education administration in Nigeria.

“This ERP platform is critical in transforming technical education administration and improving transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the sector,” Bugaje said.

A technical presentation was delivered by Dr. Babangida A. Albaba, Technical Assistant to the Executive Secretary, who outlined the portal’s core features, security protocols, and the registration and onboarding process for institutions.

 

The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, reiterated the ministry’s commitment to ensuring full compliance and institutional participation.

 

“All polytechnics and technical institutions must complete their registration on the portal by December 2025. Participation is mandatory,” Prof. Ahmad said.

 

During the interactive session, stakeholders raised concerns about operational challenges, resource allocation, and data security.

 

In response, NBTE assured participants of robust data protection measures, reliable access, and comprehensive technical support.

 

The Unified Institution Data Management Portal is expected to streamline administrative processes, improve service delivery, and strengthen institutional oversight nationwide.

 

Mrs. Fatima Abubakar, Head of Media and Publicity at NBTE, described the development as “a major step forward in ensuring greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability in technical education.”
