FG plans commodities against maternal mortality

The Federal Ministry of Health has developed an implementation plan for  15 life-saving  commodities to check neonatal and maternal death in the country.
A World Health Organization programme facilitator and staff of the ministry Mrs. Ezioma Madu disclosed this  during a sensitization meeting  organized by World Health Organisation (WHO) in conjunction with the ministry.
She said the essence of the commodities is to provide a roadmap that will ensure the affordability and accessibility of the commodities which include Oxytocin, Misoperostol, Magnessium sulfate, Zinc, injectable antibiotics and 4% Chlorhexidine Gel.
She regretted that no significant progress has been made in addressing the high rate of neonatal mortality in Nigeria in the last decade, saying the aim of the meeting was to create more awareness  on  the use  of  4% Chlorhexidine Gel an effective and new product for umbilical cord care.
